James Colbeck will launch our 2015 winter series with a DVD production of Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffman.  James will introduce this late 19th century lyric Opera and outline its historical context.

Gwenlynn Little, a Mozart specialist and leading Canadian soprano, has enjoyed an international career.  She now teaches at Western University, London and will discuss Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.  Gwenlynn was particularly well known for her role as Susanna, which she performed at the Stratford Festival in its 1965 production of The Marriage of Figaro.

Canadian stage manager Cynthia Toushan will present a program centered on the Canadian Opera Company’s production of Wagner’s Die Walküre which opens Jan 31, 2015 at the Four Seasons Centre in Toronto. Her presentation will look at this opera from the stage managers' control centre backstage. Cynthia is a resident of Stratford; her career has taken her all over North America and includes many musical productions mounted here at the Stratford Festival.

Barbara Steed Young, a music and drama coach and director of the Stratford Festival Shakespeare on Wheels outreach drama program, will present a DVD production of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, also part of the COC's 14/15 season.
