The Mission of Music and Opera Appreciation
Our Mission is to excite, educate, and entertain while increasing the public’s understanding and appreciation of the arts by offering performances and by providing seminars on topics relating to these performances.
Many people seek intellectual and emotional stimulation, which is a by-product of classical music. The proof of the success of Music and Opera Appreciation over the years since 1994 has been the growth of the audience, the number of people who return year after year, and positive word of mouth. Musical literacy programs are essential if we wish our communities to embrace the omnipotence of serious music. Knowledge of the arts has the capacity to change human beings for the better and sustain our cultural heritage. The result is an educated audience armed with the love and knowledge of the arts.
The MOA series is accessible to anyone interested in the musical arts, including those who may have little background in music. During each program, coffee and cookies are served in the lobby area for a social get-together. This is an opportunity for people who are isolated (especially in the winter) to talk to their neighbours. Our growing audience is drawn from Kitchener, Brantford, Stratford and St. Marys.
