heather jewson

Mezzo-soprano Heather Jewson enjoys performing on both Opera and Concert stages.  Career highlights include Elgar’s Sea Pictures with the Wisconsin Philharmonic (conducted by Maestro Alexander Platt), the Canadian premiere of The Sloans Project with acclaimed Toronto company Tapestry Opera (formerly Tapestry New Opera Works), and several seasons with the Canadian Opera Company.

Ms Jewson’s operatic repertoire includes:  Lucretia in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, Nicklausse in
Offenbach's Tales of Hoffman, Tisbe in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Jessica in John Estacio ‘s Frobisher, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus (Johann Strauss), Frau Reich in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor
(Otto Nicolai), Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart), and Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier (Richard Strauss).


On the concert stage Heather is active in both Oratorio and Recital.  Highlights include Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, Handel’s Messiah, and Bach’s Cantata 137 and Cantata 110.  As a recitalist, she and pianist David Eliakis co-created/wrote the program Tell me the Truth about Love, which they have performed in a number of venues in Toronto and throughout south-western Ontario.  She has also appeared with the Aldeburgh Connection and The Stratford Chamber Music Society.
